Is there an appropriate way to wear both your engagement and weddings rings after you are married?

I heard that the traditional way to to wear the wedding band closer to the hand, and the engagement ring "on top" of it, so that the wedding band is closer to your heart. However, Ive also heard the reverse. I am married for over 20 years and finally got a solitaire diamond engagement ring that we couldn’t afford when we were younger. I do want to wear both. Thank you for your help Sharon

Congratulations Sharon on getting your solitaire. I’ve had this question a few times from friends and clients. You are right about tradition. The wedding rings circular shape symbolizes unending love and it placed on the finger that was believed to lead directly to the heart. It goes on your finger first so that that there are no interruptions between it and the heart. Then your engagement ring follows.
That is traditionally. But I think you should wear it whatever way feels comfortable to you.
I wear mine the traditional way…wedding band closer to the heart!
I wear my wedding band closest to my hand and my engagement ring over the top. My wedding band never comes off, but I do take my engagement ring off when I’m cooking, cleaning or gardening.
Wedding band closer to the hand but honestly just do whatever looks better and is more comfortable.
You put the wedding band on first and the engagement rings goes on next. The wedding band is supposed to be "close to your heart"
No. Wear them however you want. There are no ring police that will drag you away if you wear them "incorrectly" according to the traditional masses, nor will anyone even pay attention that closely to your hand to make any judgements against you. It isn’t any of their business either.
Congratulations on your ring, I got mine for my silver anniversary.
The wedding band is the one worn closer to the heart, the engagement ring on top of it. The old theory was that there was a nerve that went from the heart to the fourth finger left hand.
Some people like to wear the engagement ring next to the hand, with the wedding band worn almost as a ring guard for the usually more expensive solitaire.
These are tradition breaking times, wear them which ever way you want.
